A COLLECTOR’S DREAM STAR
Star ruby is a unique asteria gemstone, with optical phenomenon caused by multitudes of well-oriented rutile needle inclusions known as “silk”. The six-ray star within its centre can be seen in a cabochon-cut stone when luminescent light is reflected perpendicular to it.
Ancient colonisations regarded the star ruby as a powerful, spiritual talisman, giving the wearer protection and guidance.
Star rubies can only be found in small percentages of rubies mined worldwide. Since asterism is not present without the silks, which usually hinder the transparency and colour of the stone, most star gems are usually semi-transparent to opaque. Therefore the 25.49 carat star ruby as presented is extremely rare as ultra-fine needles display a distinct asterism, without impeding its transparency nor the intense red body colour. Adding to its value, this exclusive piece is part of the debut launch of the ICE Collection fine jewellery line, well known for using contemporary designs. This extraordinary star ruby is set on an exquisite mounting, set with intricate invisible-set rubies and is highlighted by pear-shaped diamonds, adding a touch of elegancy. Moreover, given its impressive size, saturated hue and transparent clarity, this star ruby is truly a collectors’ dream piece.
